“From the Best in Scotland to the Best in the World”.
That was the note from Celtic to WWE superstar CM Punk as the former champion paid his first visit to Celtic Park earlier this week.
The Voice of the Voiceless was lost for words as he arrived at the stadium to take in the surroundings, enjoy the tour and pose up with the Scottish Premiership title, the Scottish Cup and Premier Sports Cup trophies. For Scottish wrestling fans it would have been a surreal image.
Punk, 46, was in Glasgow for the wrestling company’s flagship show Monday Night RAW but he couldn’t resist taking a trip to the east end of the city to learn more about the new sporting love he has in his life which already includes the Chicago Blackhawks, Bears and Bulls.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the five-time world champion explained what he has come to admire about Celtic and how his feelings have spawned from an in-ring rivalry with a Rangers-daft grappler.
“I think the history of Celtic, as much as I’ve tried to do a deep dive into it being an ignorant American newbie, we call it soccer,” he said. “The first thing that jumps out is the colours, I’m Irish so green is probably my second favourite colour next to red.
“Just the history of the team, the rivalry with Rangers. American sports go back especially baseball but football in Europe has such a longer history. So it’s cool to see a lot of similarities between football and my favourite sport, hockey.
“There’s so much history and if 60,000 people are coming every game to see something, I wanna know what that’s about. So I just want to do as much research as I possibly can.”
CM Punk’s feud with Rangers-daft wrestler sparked his Celtic interest
Punk was a Celtic favourite after he cost Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship back in summer of last year at the OVO Hydro’s Clash at the Castle show.
And Celtic thanked him for his efforts that night in June.
Hoops fans will surely have their eye on Punk’s WrestleMania match as he takes on Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a triple threat.
He’ll surely reach his career ambition of main eventing the Show of Shows with that one.
