According to Ange Postecoglou’s former assistant manager, Celtic have won about 125.8m new fans; with all of Japan behind the Bhoys.
Peter Cklamovski, who worked with Ange Postecoglou for Australia, and in the J League with Yokohama F Marinos, believes that the whole of Japan will be tuning in to see how Celtic do.
The former assistant, now manager of J2 side Montedio Yamagata, reckons that Celtic will have vast support across Japan. Having built on a relationship forged by the signing of Shunsuke Nakamura, who became a fan favourite, a return to Japanese supporters has been frutiful.

Celtic, of course, brought in Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi a few days ago. The popularity of Kyogo Furuhashi already saw Celtic start a new Japanese website, as well as a Japan-only online shop. Now, though, the Hoops need to be ready for another surge of interest.
Cklamovski said [The Times]: “Ange and Kyogo are hot topics now.
“The trio going over is hot news as well. I think we can safely say that the whole of Japan will be behind Celtic, the four players and Ange as well, which is a huge reconnection to the Japanese market and the Japanese love affair that the club had previously through [Shunsuke] Nakamura.
“It’s another branch of supporters that have joined what Ange calls the Celtic family. That family is now even bigger.”
Fine, it won’t be all of Japan supporting Celtic, but Japanese football fans have a firm second club
It’s always great to see and hear of the popularity of Celtic Football Club beyond Glasgow and Scotland. Meeting people from all over the world at games, or in supporters’ pubs, can be a real treat. Of course, the Celtic supporters make friends wherever they tend to go.

Still, knowing that the Hoops are a significant story on the other side of the world is a big deal. The Australian interest and Japanese interest were already cemented by bringing Ange Postecoglou to the club.

Signing some J League stars will only build that bond. Especially ones as likeable as Kyogo, Maeda, Hatate and Yosukue “Gucci” Ideguchi.
We won’t be everyone in Japan’s favourite club. But being a firm second is no bad thing at all, from any perspective.
Long may the relationship between Celtic and Japan last!
