Colby Donovan remains contracted to Celtic, despite suggestions that his deal had expired.
Some sources and online outlets had claimed that Donovan’s contract expired at the end of May, leaving him as a free agent along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
This would’ve rightly drawn criticism if true, given that the defender is a gifted teenager with 28 senior appearances to his name.
However, it isn’t true; Celtic announced earlier this season that Donovan had extended his deal.

Colby Donovan remains at Celtic until 2028
It was announced on the first of October last year that Donovan had signed an extension of his contract until 2028.
He is already reportedly generating interest ahead of the summer, particularly regarding teams chasing him on loan.

The confusion seemingly stems from the fact that Celtic announced the extension quite quietly, despite Donovan already having made his mark on the first team at the time.
The 19-year-old missed the season run-in due to injury, with Alistair Johnston and Anthony Ralston sharing the load at right-back.
Reflecting on his breakthrough season, Donovan said in March: “It’s been a great season.
“At the start of the season, if you told me I was going to make that many appearances, I probably wouldn’t have believed you, but it came very quick.
“We’re nearly at the end of the season now, and where I am just now is more than what I aimed to achieve at the start, so I’m buzzing.
“There’s pressure every game we play for Celtic, there’s always something on the line, whether it’s the league, cup or the European games, there’s always something to play for.
“Being at a big club, you’ve always got pressure. You just need to deal with it.
“I rarely get nervous before games. It’s just another game of football, another time to show people what I can do, so I just take it game by game.”
