Celtic’s transfer policy has come under much scrutiny this season and, as I have said before on here and on TBR, rightly so.
The amount of money Celtic have wasted not just this season, but over the previous four windows has been astronomical and, it seems, that they could have thrown another £3m down the drain in January.
That’s according to Pat Bonner. The former Celtic hero has cast doubts over Nicolas Kuhn after he was subbed against Motherwell on Sunday and Bonner believes that the Hoops have a player at the club who is ‘much better’ than him.
Bonner said [Scottish Football Podcast], “I don’t want to be too heavy on Nicolas Kuhn but he’s been around for a while. They paid money for him. He’s getting decent wages at the club.
“But the difference in the second half was compelling for me when you look at him and Yang.
“And even [Hyunjun] Yang you question at times but he is probably much, much better. You’ve got to either get to the byline, you’ve got to beat the player. You’ve got to get a ball in early. You’ve got to do something.
“You’ve got to have an end product when you’re playing in those positions, especially for Celtic.
“And it has crosses were more to the back post across the six-yard box for Maeda to pop up at that back post two or three times.
“But I think he definitely offers more than then Nicolas Kun at this moment in time.”
Hyunjun Yang’s Celtic revival
Could the South Korean be about to have a late surge in form for Celtic for this title run-in? It certainly seems that, off the bench at least, Yang could be an important impact player for us.
Brendan Rodgers has recently been impressed with Yang in training and for the time he was on the park at Motherwell, he was excellent.

Coming on in the 61st minute, the 22-year-old showed his attacking intent and created two big chances for Celtic.
With just 32 touches of the ball, Yang had a passing accuracy of 89%, had a 100% success rate in dribbles, created an assist and had two shots on target. [Fotmob]
Quite the contribution in such a short space of time. Hopefully, we are now seeing the player that convinced Celtic to splash £2m on last summer as he could prove vital for us in the final eleven games of the season.
