Celtic or Jablonec will play AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League playoff round.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have yet to prove themselves in European competition and the upcoming tie against Jablonec will be difficult enough in the current circumstances.
However, if we get through that, we know what we have to do to reach the group stages of the tournament.
And it doesn’t get any easier. We will be facing off against an Eredivisie side to make it through.
Alkmaar finished just one point behind PSV last season and ahead of other Dutch giants such as Feyenoord.
They were competitive in a Europa League group last year that included Napoli, Real Sociedad and Rijeka.
The matches are due to be played on 19th and 26th August.
Postecoglou will be entirely focused on Jablonec for now. The Bhoys travel to the Czech Republic this week before a home leg the next.
The Czech side are no mugs themselves and didn’t finish too far behind Sparta Prague in their top-flight last term.
If Celtic lose against Jablonec, we drop into the Europa Conference League playoff round.
If Celtic progress against Jablonec but lose to AZ Alkmaar, we drop into the Europa Conference League groups.
In other news, Ange Postecoglou said promising things about Kyogo Furuhashi after Celtic defeat.
