Confirmed: Celtic will take 3900 supporters to Motherwell on Saturday

Celtic will take 3900 supporters to Fir Park after a major slash in tickets from Motherwell.

Despite there being no official red zone requirements, a substantial section of the South Stand will have no Celtic fans in place due to the Hoops having to use that area to access the pitch. It’s unclear as to why Motherwell have these current protocols still in place.

However, it’s been confirmed today by Celtic’s SLO that 3900 have been distributed to the Hoops support. And it’s also been said that the club has lost between 900-1000 tickets due to the ruling from the Fir Park side:

The South Stand at Fir Park holds 4500 supporters and is the area for away fans [Motherwell FC]. In the past, Celtic have also been given extra seats at the right-side of the main stand too. It’s unclear whether this would’ve been the case on Saturday.

Not all of the bottom tier of the South Stand will be closed on Saturday. But even so, having such a large number of tickets taken away is a blow.

Many may feel this is a bit of retaliation to Celtic offering no away tickets to other clubs so far this season. An explanation from Motherwell would be ideal.

Celtic fans will make the gap in numbers irrelevant with vocal support

Regardless of the gap in away support, you can bet the Celtic supporters will make themselves heard at the weekend. It’s something you can always rely on the Hoops away fanbase to do.

Fir Park has held some special memories for us in more recent years. Scenes of last-minute jubilation or basking in the joys of a dominant win, we’ve had plenty to cheer about in North Lanarkshire.

Hopefully, the slashing of the Celtic ticket allocation is one of the last roadblocks on our route back to normality. With big trips coming up to the likes of Easter Road and Dundee, it’ll hopefully be back to the norm by then.

The Celtic fans have already tasted away days this season after visiting Livingston and Aberdeen respectively. Differing experiences of course, but just having them back has been a major boost.

You can’t beat the electricity reverberating around Pittodrie after our 2-1 win nearly a fortnight ago. This came simply down to the fact the players were able to share the moment with the supporters post-match.

It can still be the same at Fir Park should the points be secured, but it’s disappointing to see such a sizable figure being cut.
