Just when you thought we were all waiting on Celtic’s reaction to a £25m from Arsenal for Kieran Tierney, the Herald has reported otherwise.
In an exclusive report by the Scottish newspaper, the Herald has just this afternoon stated that Arsenal are still well short of Celtic’s £25million valuation for their star-man. That comes after Sky Sports had last night broken news that a £25m package for Tierney had been sent by the Gunners.
The Herald have dismissed that, however. They believe that there is still “some way” to go in this one before a deal can be done. So for those who perhaps thought Celtic had a big offer to look over, that may not be the case.

Reports continue to be countered throughout this saga. This latest update from the Herald is no less than you would expect from this transfer story. It continues to have another layer just when you think there’s a breakthrough.
The Daily Record’s sister paper, the Sunday Mail, also claimed this morning that Tierney had a package of £25m put in for him. That was only for the Record itself to deny it just this afternoon.
The Herald’s report puts us back to square one
So, to sum up, the Herald‘s exclusive puts us back to where we were 24 hours ago. There’s apparently no big £25m offer on the table for the Hoops as of yet. Nothing for the club to seriously consider, and nothing for supporters to get worried about.

At this point, we’re all bracing ourselves for this to go to the end of the transfer window in England. The window closes down south on August 8th. If Arsenal want to get a deal done, they’ll need to hurry up about it too as we enter the final three to four weeks of the window.
We spoke earlier today about how we believed Celtic should’ve rejected any offer that doesn’t involve £25m up front. And, to be fair to the club, that appears to be the action we’re taking on this deal in any case.

There’s plenty of legs to go in this saga. It’s the classic case of will he, won’t he. At the moment, however, Tierney doesn’t even have that choice until the Gunners start to get serious here.
Things also appear to have gone quiet on Napoli’s interest too. It would hardly be a surprise, however, if they come back in during the next few weeks too.
But as for the idea of a £25m offer? It looks like we can dismiss it….for now.
