Lee Congerton’s reported exit from Celtic will be a welcome piece of good news for the club’s fans.
He arrived with a big reputation in the recruitment side of the game. Although there have been some successes, his exit from Celtic won’t cause any fan heartache.
There are two signings in particular that should follow Congerton out the door.

TalkSPORT report that Congerton is keen to leave Celtic and seek opportunities abroad.
Congerton enjoyed similar roles at Sunderland and Hamburg before arriving at Celtic in 2016.
Two of his signings are welcome to follow him out of the revolving doors at Celtic Park: Eboue Kouassi and Marvin Compper.

Rodgers’ first winter signing in 2017, Kouassi cost a reported £3m from Russian side Krasnador.
In two years, the Ivorian has only made 19 appearances for the club. He’s currently out injured.
Compper was signed from RB Leipzig in 2018. Arrived with a reputation as a no-nonsense defender, the German has yet to complete 90 minutes in a Celtic shirt.
Furthermore, these two signings have not fulfilled their purpose at the club, and should be moved on before a new manager is in place.

Good Riddance
Congerton was one of the few low points of Rodgers’ time at Celtic. Recruitment was never something the fans were totally satisfied with during Rodgers’ reign.
If reports are true and Congerton is on his way, Celtic fans should be delighted.
Recruitment is a tricky business to master, but surely Celtic can find someone better than Congerton.
