Celtic managed a vital 1-1 draw at the Telia Parken as an Odsonne Edouard goal gave us something to hold onto in Denmark.
Edouard scored a sensational first-half chip and it looked from there on that the scoreline could’ve been anything Celtic wanted. However, Dame N’Doye slotted home a fine equaliser at the start of the second 45 before Fraser Forster saved a late penalty. In the end, 1-1 wasn’t so bad after all.
And here, we take a look at the individual player ratings on what was an overall positive night for the Hoops.
Fraser Forster – 8
Couldn’t do too much with the goal from N’Doye but came up trumps with a stunning penalty save to keep us in the ascendancy.
Jeremie Frimpong – 6
Struggled to make much of an impact. Caught out of position for a Bryan Oviedo chance and lost the ball on a couple of occasions when he tried to make progress down the right.
Christopher Jullien – 8
Stood up well to the physical challenge of Dame N’Doye tonight. Wasn’t bullied whatsoever and won his fair share of aerial duels. Took a no-nonsense approach at times but his passing was also tidier than it has been in recent games.
Kristoffer Ajer – 7
Got into some bother early on but remained a picture of composure throughout. Wasn’t flustered by his early mistakes and got us out of some tight situations with timely challenges and good feet.
Jonny Hayes – 7
Solid as ever from Hayes. Nothing special and nothing over-exuberant, but used his energy well to stop Copenhagen being more productive down our left side. Crossing wasn’t up to much but it didn’t have to be.
Scott Brown – 7
Another who was solid without being overly-exceptional. Picked up some crucial balls and tried to break up Copenhagen’s attacks. Struggled to keep Celtic on top at the start of the second half. Taken off with a knock.
Callum McGregor – 6
Quiet. Started full of life but his effect waned in the second half. Spurned a glorious second half chance before the hour when he should’ve slipped in Edouard.
Olivier Ntcham – 5
Lost the ball just as much as he kept it in a disappointing display from Olivier. Some of his touches just wouldn’t come off whilst he struggled to link-up with Edouard as much as he would’ve liked. Hooked before the hour for Mohamed Elyounoussi.
James Forrest – 6
Did a lot of good work in the first half in particular. Came close to scoring with a run inside and shot. Switched to the right in the second half and didn’t have the same effect.
Ryan Christie – 6
Given a surprising start and showed real sharpness. Set up Edouard for his first sitter before sending a terrific ball into the box in the second half that nearly caught out the Copenhagen goalkeeper. Looked the liveliest of our attacking midfielders. Gave away a penalty un unfortunate conditions.
Odsonne Edouard – 7
Missed two big chances to start the game but showed his class with a fine chip to put Celtic 1-0 ahead. Missed another big chance on 70 minutes. His tidy flicks and close-control helped us create the majority of our attacking situations.
The subs:
Mohamed Elyounoussi (5): Came on for the final half-hour but was anonymous. Disappointing here from Mo. Nir Bitton (5): On for Brown and made some timely challenges. Jozo Simunovic (5): Did well with a couple of last-ditch blocks.
