Neil Lennon seems to have hinted that there will be changes made to the Celtic side that will take on Nomme Kalju in the second leg of the Champions League qualifier on Tuesday.
The Hoops have a 5-0 lead going into the second leg, so they can afford to take a few risks in the game.
“Look at the wider squad”
“We got five goals, a clean sheet and that’s a nice luxury to have. We can perhaps have a look at the wider squad over there now” Lennon said, as reported by the official Celtic website.
The ‘look at the wider squad’ comment is worth examining. It could be an indication that some Hoops players will make their long-awaited competitive debuts in the second leg.
First competitive starts for duo?
That could mean a first start for Christopher Jullien and Marian Shved. Jullien has not played for the Hoops since completing his £7 million move from Toulouse. Whilst Shved has had to deal with injuries this summer.
Nevertheless, the second leg seems like the ideal game to give both players their competitive debuts. They both need game time, especially Jullien.
With Jozo Simunovic suspended for the first two league games of the season, Jullien needs to start before that to get used to playing with his team-mates.
As for Shved, a good performance against Kalju could kickstart his Hoops career. The tie might be over, but the team selection will provide interest in this game for the Celtic support.
