Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has a big decision to make in the summer. The former Hoops mainstay lost his place to Scott Bain after the winter.
Since then, Bain has turned in a series of fine performance, keeping six clean sheets in a row in the league. His excellent performance against Valencia in the Europa League just confirmed that he is undeniably the Hoops number one goalkeeper.
So, where does Gordon go from here? His contract runs for another year, so he can’t leave the Hoops for free in the summer.
Rodgers seemed to lose faith in player
But, he seems as far away as it gets from returning to the Hoops first team. Brendan Rodgers seemed to lose all faith in Gordon after a poor performance against Rangers in December.
Consider moving on
If Gordon wants to play regular first-team football, he must consider moving on from Celtic in the summer. There will be teams interested in Gordon, it should be remembered that Chelsea attempted to sign him only two years ago.
The Hoops could also get some money for any transfer as Gordon’s contract has not yet run out. Celtic’s goalkeeping future seems to be Scott Bain as the number one for now, with Conor Hazard the number one for the future.
There is no doubt Gordon has been a good player for the Hoops, as his part in two domestic trebles shows. But all things come to an end, and Gordon and Celtic should part ways in the summer.
