Celtic could welcome defender Boli Bolingoli back for the Sunday’s League Cup final with Rangers.

The Belgian is currently nursing an injury picked up in the League Cup semi-final last month. Little is known about the summer buy’s condition but his latest social media post is encouraging news.

Last night, Bolingoli put up a cryptic message on his Instagram that will get fans talking.

Boli Bolingoli back for Celtic vs Rangers?

Cards on the table – Neil Lennon will be scratching his head at the defensive line-up on Sunday. Another summer transfer in fellow left-back Greg Taylor is unable to play due to being cup tied.

Bolingoli’s possible injury as with Jonny Hayes’ means there are no options at the left of defence.

The post by Bolingoli is going to put the cat amongst the pigeons for the fans and media alike. The 24-year-old posted an image from a previous League Cup tie with Dunfermline with an hour glass caption.

Could this suggest a solution to a potential Lennon brainstorm at the back? Bolingoli returning will calm everyone down but even if he is fit, will he play? There are potential risks that come with playing a man whose match fitness will be a question mark.

Who will Neil Lennon go with?

The Irishman can easily dispel any queries by putting Bolingoli in from the off.

Let him play enough that the game is won and then rotate. It’s a potential risk, but one Lennon might be forced to take on Sunday afternoon.

Alternatively, he can play Frimpong and right-back colleague Moritz Bauer together on either side. Bauer would be out of position and the jury is still out on his quality, as is Frimpong’s experience.

It would be diabolical to play Callum McGregor on the left again, as previous defeats prove.

Another horrendous move would be playing three at the back which the Gers wingers will love to exploit.

If Bolingoli gets the call tomorrow night against Hamilton Accies, then Lennon’s Sunday motives are clear. However, if he isn’t in the team, then this will be one avenue Rangers can and will exploit.
