Dan Petrescu just can’t seem to get enough of Celtic this season. Not only has the Romanian taken on Neil Lennon’s men on four separate occasions with CFR Cluj, but he’s also just “wandered” into our hotel in Dubai.
The Daily Mail’s Stephen McGowan, who’s in the UAE, posted the bizarre update on Monday morning, joking that the Cluj boss sees more of the Scottish media than his wife.

Petrescu’s side knocked us out of the Champions League in August, winning 5-4 on aggregate, before finishing behind us in second place in Europa League Group E.
The Romanians also have a last 32 tie to look forward to in February, but it’s against perennial tournament winners Sevilla.

What is Petrescu doing mixing it with Celtic?
The minute you read a story like that, you immediately wonder if there’s some sort of transfer business going on. Earlier this season, we told you about Romanian reports that we were in for Cluj forward Billel Omrani.
The Frenchman impressed against us in August and it was felt a move was close. But nothing ever materialised. Could that be what has brought Petrescu into contact with our club yet again?

Well, sadly not. Journalist McGowan was also on hand to update Celtic superfan ‘Paul The Tim’ on the reason for Petrescu’s journey over to the Middle East, writing “he’s on hols” with regards to the boss.

So no business reason for Petrescu coming back into contact with Celtic. Perhaps he’s just a big fan of the club. And the way things have gone between us so far this season, you really wouldn’t be massively shocked if we ended up facing them in the last 16 of the competition.
