Darren Bent has done his best to fuel the Kieran Tierney to Arsenal stories, as he came to an odd conclusion of his own.
The former English Premier League veteran stated his belief that Tierney is “desperate” to move to the Gunners. This is despite the fact the youngster has been knuckling down and continuing his rehab work.
A deal still hasn’t been agreed between Arsenal and Celtic. It’s been a real “will he, won’t he” story this summer. But still, with just a week of the English transfer window remaining, we’re no closer to our answer.

But speaking to Football Insider, Bent made what comes across as a terribly misinformed claim about Tierney’s stance on the matter. Here’s what he had to say below:
“He’s desperate to leave Celtic and join Arsenal in the Premier League, I’m sure of that. At the moment, it looks like it might be up in the air as Celtic want more money up front and Arsenal are reluctant to pay it.
“You can’t blame Tierney for wanting to join Arsenal. Celtic are a massive club but he has won everything there and proved himself in the SPL. He will want to show he can do it in the world’s biggest league, and at a higher level.”
Tierney to Arsenal may happen – but no indication he’s itching
Bent was a fine striker back in his day. A good footballer who gave plenty to the game with some fine strikes. But when it comes to his verdict here, his opinion is absolutely ridiculous.
The reason? It comes across as really misinformed when it comes to Tierney and his motives.

Sure, Tierney may be interested in a move to Arsenal. He may even want it to happen. But “desperate” to leave Celtic Park? Knowing KT as we all do, that surely couldn’t be further from the truth. Every day is like a dream for the young Celtic fan, who probably still can’t believe his meteoric rise.
It feels as though the English press and media have been doing their best to get this one over the line. There still seems to be a form of bemusement over how anyone could be happy to sit at Celtic when a Premier League club comes calling.

But, as far as we’re all aware, that’s exactly what Tierney is doing. He’s waiting to be told whether he’s allowed to talk to Arsenal or not. And whatever the decision is, he’ll accept it like the top Celtic man he is.
Nothing seems certain in this saga, but Tierney’s professionalism is something we can bank on. His attitude has never been in question, and comments like Bent’s seem designed to cause some havoc as opposed to anything else.
