The date and time of the second Glasgow derby of the season has been confirmed. Sky Sports Scotland announced on Twitter that Celtic will travel to Ibrox on the 2nd of January, with a 12:30pm kick-off.

The Hoops are also set to be live on Sky on Boxing Day, with the trip to Hamilton pencilled in for a 3:00pm kick-off.

The good news is that with the Hamilton game being shown live then the upcoming trip on Easter Road on Saturday will be the last Celtic game to be shown on pay per view in the year 2020.

Hamilton game not on PPV

There might have been a concern that Sky Sports could have decided not to televise a Celtic away game for the third time this season. Thankfully that is not the case though. Even though yet another Rangers home game is being shown, Celtic fans will be spared having to fork out again.

As for the Glasgow derby, Celtic have lost the last two Christmas/New Year visits to Ibrox, and will want to put that right.

Neil Lennon will also want to make up for the very poor display in the first meeting of the teams this season at Celtic Park in October.

Of course, Celtic can’t look too far into the future just yet. There are other games to come first. Various league games, and the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts.

Hoops boss will be eager to make up for defeats

However, getting a win over Rangers will be important to Neil Lennon as he has lost the last two meetings between the teams. A third loss in a row would not be acceptable.

Thankfully the Hoops manager will understand that, and hopefully Celtic will turn in a much better display than the team did back in October.

The players who missed that game due to Covid-19 should all be back, injury permitting, which is a real bonus for the Hoops.

In other news, Craig Levein wants to see the SFA do away with the compliance officer role.
