Celtic fringe player Lewis Morgan is on the verge of joining David Beckham’s MLS side Inter Miami after they had a six-figure bid accepted on Thursday – according to a report.
The Daily Record say that Morgan is flying back from Celtic’s training camp in Dubai and will have 48 hours to decide on a move to the American side who have offered him a “lucrative long-term deal”.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid man Beckham is the owner of the new MLS side, who will start their first campaign on February 22nd against FC Dallas. The feeling is that they’d like to have Morgan on board by then.
Morgan would be taking a big risk moving to Miami
Well this one came out of the blue. As if former Hoops boss Ronny Deila becoming the new boss of New York City wasn’t enough, the MLS has apparently given us another big headline this week.
Putting it bluntly, Morgan wouldn’t be massively missed at Celtic. Despite having a real flurry of starts both at the beginning of the season and in November, he’s only made 18 appearances all season – with the vast majority of them coming off the bench.

Morgan has netted two goals – both in the Europa League – but his general level of performance has indicated that he’s not quite cut out to be a big player at Celtic Park.
He’ll undoubtedly want to get out and play but we can’t help but think this move isn’t right for him. A look over Inter Miami’s “roster” shows that they don’t have a single European player on their books as of yet. While language obviously wouldn’t be a problem with the Americans and Canadians in the squad, you feel that Morgan would be taking a big leap into the unknown.

Yes, the lure of playing for a team owned by football icon David Beckham may be pretty big. But Morgan must make sure that doesn’t colour what is a massive career decision at the age of 23.
Not too many players go on to be superstars after moving to the MLS. It’s more of a place for men who have already made their name to retire. He’d be much better served finding a club in Scotland or England where he can get first-team football, with less risk attached.
