Brendan Rodgers has had to listen to a load of nonsense spoken about his achievements at Celtic this season.
From daft comments like Celtic’s ‘tedious’ treble to bitter opinions about the Parkhead club’s budget dwarfing the rest of Scottish football, it seems that there are certain people looing to shoot down anything Rodgers achieves this season.
Celtic stand on the brink of making history this season if they can win the ninth domestic treble of their history.
Which is why Livingston boss David Martindale has hit out at the criticism he’s hearing about Rodgers and Celtic this season.

David Martindale tells people it’s ‘not easy’ for Rodgers and Celtic to win trebles
Martindale was revealing who he had voted for for the Manager of the Year this season when he hit back at the Celtic snipers who are looking to devalue what Rodgers has done at Celtic this season.
Martindale told PLZ Soccer, “I voted for Brendan if he wins the treble, because I think that, plus his European exploits this year.
“Everybody who says or Celtic should just win the treble, I don’t believe that. I think winning the three competitions is absolutely huge.
“I think that’s just a cheap shot that they should be winning it. I don’t think he should be winning it. I think that’s a huge achievement. So Brendan, I voted for Brendan based on if he won the treble.”
Martindale shoots down Celtic budget talk and praises ‘outstanding’ Rodgers
But many Celtic detractors point to the vast financial resources Rodgers has at his disposal but Martindale was having none of it as he hailed the ‘outstanding’ job he has done at Paradise this season.
When asked if he would change his vote now that league standings are decided, Martindale continued, “So would that change it? Maybe slightly, maybe slightly. Now I know all the outcomes, but I think it played if Brendan was to win the treble with Celtic I think he’s the outstanding manager this season.
“Yeah, they’ve got the biggest budget, but I don’t that’s just as easy to say go and win the treble. I don’t think football works like that.
“There are huge pressures on him, and going to win all those trophies, with all the games thrown in Europe. It’s not easy done.”
Brendan Rodgers will not care what people outside of the Celtic family think about his achievements since his return in 2023.
The Carnlough-born man returned to Paradise to prove a point and he has done that, and more. With a treble on the horizon, if Rodgers can get that over the line, if and when he decides to call it a day at Parkhead at the end of his contract, he can do so with his head held high.
