David Turnbull’s move to Celtic may be off but the Motherwell man is still hopeful of a future transfer, judging by his latest social media activity.
The 19-year-old was set to join the Scottish champions before a knee injury was discovered during a routine medical. He’ll now face surgery and up to six months on the sideline, ending his hopes of a dream move.
However, Turnbull still seems keen to move to Celtic in the near future. The midfielder has been pretty active on Twitter since the news, liking numerous tweets from Celtic fans asking him to join the club.
Here are a few of the tweets he’s liked.
Will Celtic move for Turnbull in January?
Following the news, Celtic put out a polite and well crafted statement. In it they thanked the teenager and his representatives for “the professionalism they have shown throughout”. They also wished Turnbull all the very best for the future, but will that be at Celtic?
Well, the midfielder is clearly sold on the move judging by his recent activity. Neil Lennon is also a big fan and that is unlikely to have changed by the next transfer window.
Presuming Motherwell don’t raise their asking price too much, what do Celtic have to lose by going for the player again? If he can get over his injury worry and get back to playing well for the Steelmen then a move would make sense.
It’ll certainly be one that gets talked about in January. That’s for sure.
