Celtic have confirmed that midfielder David Turnbull has tested positive for COVID-19, on Twitter this afternoon.

We wish the player all the best with his recovery and hope his symptoms aren’t too severe.

This is obviously a worrying development and it’s made worse by the fact he’s been training with Celtic as recently as Friday.

A picture uploaded by photo agency SNS, via Getty Images, dated November 20th shows Turnbull training with the squad at Lennoxtown.

Celtic also posted footage to the club’s official YouTube channel on Friday which shows Turnbull in contact with his teammates and training alongside them.

It’s a serious concern and hopefully Neil Lennon can provide further details on the diagnosis and it’s impact on the wider Celtic squad moving forward.

Today’s match goes ahead as planned, so we have to have some sort of confidence has not been deemed a close contact of his teammates.

We’ll have much more on this later and try to source any important developments.

The international football shambles goes on and, in Scotland, it’s Celtic paying the price most of all.
