Former Celtic boss Davie Hay believes that the club have done the right thing in appointing Neil Lennon as interim boss until the end of the season.
Hay also thinks that there is an excellent chance that Lennon will get the job on a permanent deal until the end of the season.

“He is the right choice to take the job in the short term and I see no reason why he should not be there in the long-term.” Hay told the Evening Times.
Plenty of plaudits

Hay also believes Lennon should get plenty of plaudits should the Hoops go on to complete a domestic treble.
“And for me, if Celtic are successful in going on and completing the treble then the players and Lennon will deserve huge credit.”

The second part of what Hay claims is inarguable. If the players and Lennon are able to overcome Brendan Rodgers’ exit to clinch the treble they deserve massive credit.
Too early to tell
As for Lennon becoming permanent boss, it is too early to tell yet. A lot will depend on results in March. The Hoops face a tough Scottish Cup trip to Hibernian. There are also league games against Aberdeen and Rangers.
If the Hoops win those three matches, there will be a demand for Lennon to get the job. Any defeat though, could bring about doubts.
Lennon also might not want the hassle of being Hoops boss once more. Only time will tell, but the 2-1 win over Hearts was a good start to the new era at Celtic Park.
