Former Celtic manager Davie Hay was unhappy with Scott Brown’s late red card against Kilmarnock.
The Hoops received a second yellow card for celebrating with fans after scoring his last-minute winner at Rugby Park.
He will now be suspended for the Hoops’ up-coming clash against Motherwell on Sunday, and this has irritated Hay.

“The minute he jumped into the crowd he would have known that the second yellow card was coming and I just don’t understand the logic behind thinking that is fine” he told the Evening Times.
“Over zealous…and irresponsible”
“So it’s fine to go and celebrate the goal. Enjoy it. I’m all for that. But I think the over zealous nature of it was irresponsible.”

The celebrations were understandable to an extent, as it was such a huge win for Celtic in the title race. But Hay is correct that Brown should really have known better than celebrating with the crowd.
He is an experienced player, who would have known that he would receive a second yellow card as soon as he ran into the fans.

Booking players for celebrating is wrong
That opens up a different debate though, about players getting booked for celebrating with the fans. That notion s outdated and should be removed from the game.
However, the Hoops will miss Brown in their upcoming clash against Motherwell, who are in a great run of form. So Hay is correct to be annoyed by the red card.
