Former Celtic boss Davie Hay has identifies what separates the Hoops from title rivals Rangers, the Evening Times reports.
The one-time Hoops boss, who won the title as Celtic manager in 1986, feels that Neil Lennon’s side have the mentality to win trophies, which the Ibrox side currently don’t.
He feels that the midweek results the teams achieved – the Hoops drew 2-2 at Livingston, whilst Rangers lost 1-0 to Hamilton, shows the difference in mentality writ large.
“Grit and determination”
“While Celtic have a grit and determination to not be defeated, Rangers are crumbling like a deck of cards” Hay said, writing in his column in the Evening Times.
“Celtic have that steely mentality that it takes to win Trebles, and Rangers simply don’t. That’s the defining difference that explains why Neil Lennon’s side are now staring at a possible Quadruple Treble, and why Rangers will again finish the season empty-handed” Hay concluded.

Winning trophies all the time must breed confidence, which is why the current crop of Hoops players won’t have panicked after the loss to Rangers at Celtic Park in December.
It was going to be about how both teams handled that result, and Celtic have thrived since then, whilst Rangers have wilted under the pressure. The Hoops currently sit 13 points ahead of the Ibrox side in the league table, which says it all about the consistency the team has shown.
Celtic have won the last 10 domestic trophies in a row, which is a remarkable achievement which should not be underplayed.
Will to win that has never been seen before
In fact, it should be highly praised. It shows a will to win that has never been seen before in Scottish football. With that in mind, it is no wonder that the Hoops are able to overcome poor results and stretch ahead at the top of the league.

Still, it takes great consistency to achieve what Celtic are doing, and Hay is correct to point out the ‘grit’, and ‘determination’ shown by the current side to maintain their lead at the top of the lead, and potential fourth domestic treble in a row.
