Former Celtic player Davie Provan thinks Mohamed Elyounoussi’s hat-trick last week brilliantly silenced his critics, writing in his Scottish Sun column this weekend.
The Norwegian international was on top form against Motherwell at Fir Park last Sunday, netting three quality goals.
The third, a header from a Hatem Abd Elhamed cross, is the one that appears to have caught the eye of Provan.
The Sky Sports pundit has even compared it to world-class Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
He told The Scottish Sun: “Mohamed Elyounoussi couldn’t have done more to shut up his critics against Motherwell.
“The Fir Park header that completed his hat-trick could have been from Cristiano Ronaldo’s collection.
“The fall guy for the Sparta Prague debacle after being caught on his mobile, the Norwegian reminded everyone of his ability.
“It was a top performance from a top player.”
Elyounoussi had a bit of pressure on his shoulders heading into this season after an injury-struck first campaign on loan.
However, again deployed in a formation and position that suits him best, he is relishing life at Celtic right now.
The attacking midfielder has brought his goal tally into double figures already and leads the Bhoys scoring charts.

If we are to claw back the points gap on Rangers, then he’ll undoubtedly have a huge part to play.
The Ronaldo comparison might be taking things a bit far, even in the isolation of his third goal last week. Still, I’d rather Provan was positive about Celtic than his usual moaning!
In other news, Celtic fans are impressed with the club’s latest Adidas announcement.
