“Trumped up”

“I think it’s a trumped up charge. I think it’s been concocted because of pressure from the media or elsewhere” he said.

Lennon then turned his ire onto Gerrard, who claimed that Celtic had played the ‘victim card‘ incidents involving over Brown.

These comments will be warmly welcomed by the Celtic support. They will be delighted to see the Hoops boss stick up for Brown. They will also be pleased to see Lennon have a bit of a ‘dig’ at the Rangers boss. Comments like that usually go down well with fans.

Comments could influence next manager choice

Lennon’s comments could also influence who becomes the next permanent manager at Celtic. The likes of Peter Lawwell and Dermot Desmond will be pleased with what the Hoops boss has had to say.

That is for the future. In the present, there is no doubt Lennon will get a huge ovation from the support when Celtic take on Livingston on Saturday.
