Ewen Cameron has issued a response to Celtic’s title win against Hearts.

The radio presenter has been an unlikely main character of this season in the Scottish Premiership thanks to his role as a provocateur on the behalf of Hearts.

Like many, he completely wrote Celtic off earlier in the campaign. His victory laps became synonymous with the Jambos’ success.

However, all the gloating fell flat on its face after what happened on Saturday, with Cameron’s team falling at the crucial final hurdle at Parkhead.#

Ewen Cameron: β€˜I’m so proud of Hearts’

In a video on X, Cameron said: β€œFirst thing’s first, I just want to congratulate Celtic on winning the Premiership title…

β€œAnd, huge congratulations to Martin O’Neill, somebody that I’ve got so much time for; so much respect for.

β€œI interviewed Martin O’Neill for years in the noughties… one of the good guys. One of the very best. So congratulations to Martin O’Neill, and to Celtic…

β€œAnd to the fans as well. My dad was a Celtic fan, who’s no longer with us, so he’ll be up there very happy that Celtic won the league today.

β€œBut what about Hearts (sigh…) so proud. So proud of what we’ve done this year. How far we’ve come as a football club.

β€œIf somebody had said to me nine months ago: β€˜You’d go into the last day of the season with a chance of winning the league’, I would’ve laughed in your face and had you carted off somewhere.

β€œBut here we were, Celtic Park, the home of the champions, with a chance to win the league, and I thought we were outstanding today.

β€œHonestly, I thought we were superb. I’ve just got nothing but admiration for what Derek McInnes has done. What this Hearts team have done.

β€œAnn Budge, Tony Bloom, the Foundation of Hearts…. this is just the beginning.

β€œYou need to remember that: this is just the beginning.”

In the end, 80 points wasn’t enough for Derek McInnes’ side, despite them leading the league for some 250 days.
