Celtic will soon find out the end result of this shambolic season.
When the March international break concludes, the title race in Scotland will be decided, with Hearts leading the charge, Rangers sitting second, and Celtic sitting in third place.
Celtic were beaten at Dundee United before the break, and it has led several pundits to write off Martin O’Neill’s side in the title race, as they are now five points behind the current leaders.
Two of those include boyhood Celtic fans Paul Slane and Si Ferry, but the man who has surprisingly come to the champions’ aid is Derek Ferguson, because he is refusing to rule out the holders.
“I just think that group of players as well,” said Ferguson. “I know you are saying they aren’t up to scratch. The style of football and everything. But don’t write them off.”
Has O’Neill been soft in his approach since returning to Celtic?
Chris Sutton thinks so!
Derek Ferguson is adamant that Martin O’Neill can still win the Premiership title with Celtic
Even the most ardent of Celtic supporters will admit that the team deserves nothing from this season because it has been beyond abject everywhere you look.
But the fact of the matter is Celtic are still in with a chance of winning the double, and O’Neill has papered over a lot of cracks.
Perhaps that know-how and the ability to deal with pressure might work in Celtic’s favour, and that’s probably why Ferguson is so firm in his stance, as he told Open Goal.
Si Ferry: “I can’t see Celtic winning the league.”
Derek Ferguson: “Well, I am not dismissing them.”
Paul Slane: “They still can?”
James McFadden: “They can still win.”
Ferguson: “Aye, that’s what I am saying because I have seen it. I just think that group of players as well. I know you are saying they aren’t up to scratch. The style of football and everything.
“But don’t write them off – that’s what makes it so intriguing. You are talking about two Rangers centre forwards, who aren’t scoring goals, but arguably, people are making them favourites for the league.
“I am not writing off Celtic – Danny Rohl keeps saying, ‘it is coming down to the last game of the season.’ He has been saying that for the last three or four games. I believe that.”

Which current and available Celtic players have won the title?
There are some Celtic players who have lifted the main crown, but won’t be available post-break because of injury.
One of them is Cameron Carter-Vickers, whose long-term injury this term has hurt the Bhoys, as well as the unfortunate injury situation with Jota.
But looking at the players available to O’Neill right now, how many of them have won the title, because it might just give them the edge when the pressure really hits during these final few weeks.
