Celtic are storming away with the Scottish Premiership title this season and with the Rangers game just around the corner, the potential of the gap at the top of the league growing is there.
A 14-point gap currently separates both clubs after Celtic hammered St Johnstone 4-0 on Sunday and Rangers stumbled at Motherwell drawing their game 2-2 at Fir Park.
The upcoming Glasgow Derby will have no bearing on the position of the top two clubs but what it can do, if Celtic wins it, is pile more misery on Rangers as the Ibrox club continue to come under pressure for their poor domestic form.
That has made former Rangers defender, Alan Hutton, make a stunning admission that he is in a ‘panic’ ahead of Celtic’s visit to Ibrox as Brendan Rodgers’ side are starting to find their groove again.
Alan Hutton is ‘worried’ Celtic are ‘getting into their stride’ ahead of Rangers game
Hutton told The Scottish Football Social Club [4m], “At the moment they’re getting into their stride. They weren’t at their fluent best in previous weeks but here you just see that they’ve been able to make a lot of changes probably with a view to Thursday and still be strong.
“And then in the second half, they just go through the gears. They make the substitutions, they get more goals and you kind of feel for St Johnstone who are in a run of form where they are very poor at this moment in time and they really were going to struggle here.”
Alan Hutton is fearful of Celtic who look ‘a different animal’ vs Rangers
“But Celtic are just a different animal,” continued Hutton, “I mean I think that’s the sixth game in a row in the league that they’ve kept a clean sheet.

“They’ve only conceded four this season. I mean they are unstoppable at this moment in time and I’m starting to get that worried way again that it’s kind of lifting. I can just feel for Thursday, so a little bit of panic setting in.”
Celtic’s record against Rangers under Brendan Rodgers is almost flawless over his two tenures as the Parkhead gaffer.
With 16 wins in 20, Rodgers is well-versed in how to get a win over the Ibrox club on their own patch and it is likely his experience will be called upon to get another result for the Celtic fans.
Celtic are free-scoring and keeping it tight at the back. With 52 goals scored and only four conceded in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers will have their handful not only trying to find the back of Celtic’s net but also keeping the Parkhead club out of theirs.
