Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish has called into question whether or not Rangers really have evidence about SPFL misconduct that should have us concerned about the governance of Scottish football, writing in his Sunday Post column (26/04 print edition, page 57).
Last week, the SPFL tasked auditors Deloitte with an investigation into the process surrounding Dundee’s decision to delay their vote on heavily backed league proposals, despite trying to submit it.
No wrongdoing was found but the Ibrox club are still up in arms, demanding a second, more wide-ranging investigation and again claiming to have evidence that shows SPFL chiefs acted inappropriately.
Dalglish believes the scope of this investigation was narrower than he’d like but now believes the ball is firmly in Rangers court and that they have to now show their hand and share the evidence to support their allegations.
As quoted by The Sunday Post (26/04 print edition, page 57), the former Hoops attacker said: “What information do they have? Do they really have enough to leave us all concerned about the way the game is being governed?
“Some people have suggested they are bluffing, and do not possess the ‘smoking gun’.
“Well interim chairman Douglas Park and chief executive Stewart Robertson need to prove otherwise.
“If Rangers are in possession of factual information that is beneficial to the wider well-being of Scottish football then they need to release it.”
Dalglish does see the merit in a wider investigation, in support of the Ibrox club, but apparently now feels the time has come for them to get things out in the open.

The longer this drama rumbles on, the more focus and attention is taken away from looming problems that could have an impact on whether clubs throughout Scotland’s divisions survive or not.
A massive 81% of the clubs voted for the SPFL’s proposals and the small band of teams looking to drag out the issue should frankly be told it’s time to move on.
As we know, that’s unlikely to happen, so we might have to see this charade entertained for days or even weeks to come.
