Celtic’s are reportedly interested in bringing Derby left-back Max Lowe to the club.
The Daily Record report that the Hoops have made an enquiry about the Aberdeen loanee.
Apparently pending on a Kieran Tierney move, the Hoops are seeking a temporary or permanent transfer.
This is another Scottish based target the club are after and it’s becoming clear why.
There’s a serious hole in the scouting system at the club that the backroom staff are playing it safe.
Celtic inquiring about Max Lowe
There’s no denying that the Derby man was a top player at Aberdeen.
The 22-year-old will have his suitors the length and breadth of the country. Aberdeen and Rangers are reportedly interested in him too.
However, his manager Frank Lampard didn’t fancy him though hence his move up north.
Nevertheless, he has shown that he can handle the Scottish game with ease. This is why Neil Lennon, John Kennedy and co are looking at bringing him to Celtic.
He is someone who knows the game up here now and it’s not too much of a gamble or an expense.
However, Celtic have an abundance of players in a similar situation who can do the same job.
Jonny Hayes for example can easily fill in at left-back and knows the Scottish game too.
Max Lowe proves scouting failure
If there’s one thing that’s becoming clear, is that the scouting network, if there is one, is running low.
It’s no secret that when Brendan Rodgers left, he took everyone with him.
It took a little longer, but even Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton departed the club.
The Bhoys are bringing in a temporary replacement in Nick Hammond but this begins in July.
For now, the club seem to be going on what they know at the moment.
Other than Christopher Jullien, the club has little else to get the fans excited transfer wise.
It’s all becoming too predictable for the coming season.
