Dundee have released a Tuesday statement notifying that they have yet to make a decision on the SPFL’s proposals.
Despite having the Easter weekend to ruminate on proposals to call a halt to the Championship, League One and League Two for the season, with the Premiership potentially to follow, the Dens Park club are still not in a position to come down off the fence.
The statement on their official website said, in part: “As we made clear in our statement on Friday afternoon, it is a time for integrity and impartiality within Scottish football. Our view on that has not changed.
“Over the past few days, we have entered into various positive discussions with reconstruction at the forefront of these.
“Given our discussions and considering all aspects, we don’t feel we are in a position to comment further on the resolution that was put forward.
“We understand that this may bring more questions than answers and we will look to give a much more substantial account of the past few days at the conclusion of this process.”
This will do little to appease those looking for clarity on a difficult situation facing Scottish football.
Had Dundee registered their vote in a timely fashion, we could be moving on to a new stage of discussions or even have a firm plan for how to proceed in 2019/20 and beyond.
Clearly they are looking to leverage their negotiating position, with reconstruction apparently high on the agenda.
A bigger Scottish Premiership would no doubt help Dundee in the long-term, with promotion from the second-tier notoriously difficult.
However, with short-term problems on the table, they will now be under more pressure than ever to make their stance crystal clear.
