Ange Postecoglou’s early Celtic transfer talk surrounding plans for the January window are signs that we are headed in the right direction regarding future European hopes.
On Tuesday evening, the Bhoy suffered yet more disappointment in Europe after any chance of knockout qualification was eliminated in the 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.
However, despite not picking up a single victory from our five group-stage games, there have been positives to take away for Postecoglou and his squad.

Across each of the five fixtures against the Ukrainian side, Real Madrid and RB Leipzig, the Hoops have been competitive, going toe-to-toe with some top sides from across the continent.
Of course, there is still frustration coming away from these group stage outings, with only two points on the board from a possible 15.
However, many Celtic supporters can see that we are heading in the right direction under Postecoglou after a huge learning curve this season.
And if we are looking at the Celtic manager’s recent comments regarding our transfer plans for the near future, in my opinion, it is a sign we are headed on the correct path.
Ange Postecoglou’s transfer comments showcase that Celtic mean business as they look to build upon first Champions League campaign.
The January window at the beginning of this year proved to be a crucial period for the Hoops, not only last season but also in the early stages of the 2022/23 campaign.

Signings such as Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate have proved to be quality additions for Ange Postecoglou, with the duo playing a key part across all competitions in 2022.
Again, not only will these new January additions help aid the Bhoys in the short-term, but by the time next campaign rolls around, they will be nicely settled in and be ready to kick on after pre-season.
And hopefully, that also coincides with Postecoglou’s squad playing their second Champions League campaign, learning from the frustrating experiences we suffered in Group F.
Between now and then, there is a high chance that some of the current members of the squad will be linked with moves away, and at a club like Celtic, that is always likely.
However, should any key stars move on, the former Socceroos boss has already eased supporters’ concerns, insisting that the recruitment team will be ready to sign replacements.

Although the disappointment of the Champions League is extremely raw at this point in time, following on from our draw on Tuesday evening, there should still be optimistic thoughts amongst the Parkhead faithful.
We have entered another stage of Postecoglou’s rebuild at Celtic Park, and the next phases of that in the coming months are going to be crucial.
However, I believe we will be better for this season’s experience, and the exciting talk of new additions in the January window will help aid our performances in the competition next campaign.
