The nominees for Scotland’s Player of the Year have been announced, and two Celtic players feature on the four man shortlist.

The Celtic duo of Callum McGregor and James Forrest are on the list, along with the Rangers pairing of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

There is one Celtic player who can consider himself unfortunate not to be nominated by his fellow professionals – Odsonne Edouard.

Good form has gone unnoticed

Edouard’s form this season seems to have gone a bit unnoticed. This seems odd when you have consider that he has scored 20 goals this season.

Some goals he has scored this season have been vitally important ones too. The late winners at both Hearts and Dundee were vital. They helped Celtic maintain their lead in the Scottish Premiership.

2o goals is a good return

When you consider that the player does a lot of good work outside the box, 20 goals is a very good return. He will be hoping to add to that number before the end of the season.

Perhaps the fact that he didn’t score as many goals as Alfredo Morelos – he has 29 for the season – counted against the player.

But that does seem like an unfortunate reason for the player not to be nominated. Perhaps the lack of a nomination will spur Edouard on to play even better next season.

He is unlucky to miss out on this season’s nominations.
