Efe Ambrose could soon be playing against Celtic

Former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose, a Neil Lennon signing in his first spell at the club, has joined Scottish Premiership side Livingston today, the West Lothian club announced.

Ambrose played 169 times for Celtic, winning six trophies at the club including four league titles.

He was also part of the famous team who beat Barcelona at Celtic Park in the 2012/13 Champions League, declaring in the days before the match he would play the game of his life to help defeat the La Liga giants.

Although he had his ups and downs in a Celtic jersey, he became something of a cult hero with supporters, especially those who enjoyed his personality off the pitch.

With Ambrose going straight into Livi’s squad to face Hibs on Saturday and Celtic visiting their ground in early March, the Bhoys could soon be facing off against the Nigerian.

The 31-year-old African Cup of Nations winner may not have played many games recently but having signed an 18-month contract Livingston, they clearly feel has something to offer on a long-term basis.

Gary Holt’s team are currently flying high in fifth position in the league table and could even make a late push for a European spot ahead of Aberdeen and Motherwell.

They are also one of the few teams to have beaten us this season

No doubt Ambrose will be a boost to those European hopes, carrying plenty of experience as a winner and performer at the top level.

It’s doubtful there’s a manager in the game who knows him better than Lennon though, so hopefully his old boss can figure out a way to exploit him on our way to getting a bit of revenge for our away defeat earlier this season.
