Celtic’s defeat to Hibs puts the Parkhead club firmly in the gaze of Motherwell who are now gunning for the Bhoys says young Fir Park star Elijah Just.

Just has been tipped for a Celtic move in the future, but for now, the Motherwell midfielder is only thinking about leapfrogging the Hoops at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

There is no doubt that Jens Berthel Askou’s team are the best footballing team in the SPFL and have eight wins in their last 11 fixtures.

Do you see Motherwell as a genuine threat to Celtic?

And after Celtic’s defeat to Hibs, Just is gunning for the Bhoys with a title warning that cannot be ignored.

Elijah Just believes Motherwell can overtake Celtic in the title race

When asked if Motherwell can overtake the teams above them in the league table, Just told the Daily Record, “Of course, I do. At the moment, the difficult part is, every week in the league when we win, they also win.

“It’s going to come down to a few big games. Before then, we have to make sure that we beat Dundee United and continue to put in top performances.

“We are just looking one game at a time, making sure our standards are high. I don’t know the pressure they’re feeling in their squads.

“The way we played against Aberdeen – and the disappointment that people had – [in a 2-0 Scottish Cup defeat last midweek] would probably indicate that there is pressure on us.

“People expect now, at this point in the season, that we win games. Maybe we have a little bit less pressure because we are the ones chasing.

“But in those big games we will feel pressure – because we think we’re a top team and that we can win those games.”

When Celtic face Motherwell could be huge

With only four points separating Celtic and Motherwell, by the time both clubs meet next, there is a very real possibility the Fir Park club could overtake the Hoops.

Celtic play Motherwell on the 14th of March, but before that two difficult away trips to Rangers and Aberdeen are up first.

Any dropped points in either of those fixtures could mean that by the time the Steelmen come to Celtic Park, Motherwell could already be in third place if they beat Dundee United and Dundee.

What a shock that would be and we wonder, would bouncy balls be the hot topic of conversation then?
