A report claims that an email could have disclosed the date and time of Celtic’s upcoming Scottish Cup tie against Clyde, which is due to take place next month.
The Daily Record reports than an email sent by Premier Sports in the channel’s newsletter to subscribers revealed that the game will be live on the channel on Sunday the 9th of February, with a two o’clock kick-off time.
No official announcement as yet
As yet, there has been no official announcement about the game.
Should those details prove to be correct, then the majority of Celtic supporters will be pleased with the time of the match.
A two o’clock kick-off is preferable to a game in the evening, for example, a Friday or Saturday night game. It might well be easier for fans to attend the game as it takes place in the afternoon, especially when it comes to public transport.
Hoops have history with opponents
It is not surprising that the game is set to be live on television. A Celtic trip to a lower league team is always going to attract attention. Even more so when you consider the history Celtic have against Clyde – losing 2-1 to them in the Scottish Cup back in 2006.
Hopefully, there is no repeat of that on this occasion. The cup tie against Clyde comes in the middle of a busy run for the Hoops, as they will be in league action in the midweek against Motherwell, prior to the game against Clyde.
That is what Celtic just have to deal with being a big club competing on multiple fronts.
The Hoops will no doubt treat the Clyde fixture with respect and play a strong side.
