Emilio Izaguirre must leave Celtic as he isn’t fulfilling the duty he was bought for.
The Honduran returned to the club in the summer as back-up to Kieran Tierney.
Last season, Celtic were without a recognised stand-in left-back which took its toll with a massive run of games up to Christmas.
Brendan Rodgers sought help from the former number one choice who left the club for Saudi Arabia.
Where has Izaguirre been?
Izaguirre hasn’t been in the team since the end of August against Suduva at Celtic Park.
Since then, the 32-year-old has played two international ties – one in October and another in November.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
However, Emilio hasn’t been anywhere near the Celtic team in their Europa League quest.

Nor is the veteran appearing in the first team in the current busy period of games.
This was why he was bought in the first place – he’s not fulfilling his duty.
Exile not explainable
Rodgers hasn’t mentioned Izaguirre’s disappearance nor have fans been wondering where he is.

Social media has been saying that he was out with an ankle injury.
However, Izaguirre’s Instagram post showed him training with the Honduran national team.
He then went on to start in the most recent game against Panama.
Squad size is too much for Rodgers
The Celtic manager said after the summer that his squad was bloated and not enough players wanted to leave to play football.
Yet, he was the one buying and now not featuring Izaguirre since August.
Rodgers is right in saying his team is too big.

Players such as Scott Allan and Jonny Hayes should already be playing football elsewhere.
An argument could be made saying Izaguirre has a job as Tierney’s understudy so should be kept.
However, this isn’t the case, thus his position in the squad and the wage could go elsewhere.
Rodgers must show he is a man of his word and trim where needs be.
