The Celtic exit rumours will undoubtedly be cranked up over the next week, with Odsonne Edouard to West Ham one of the current talking points.
The Daily Star reported yesterday that the Frenchman is seriously interesting the Premier League side. However, the report also valued him as £35million-rated. That would be tricky to obtain given he’s been woefully under-par this season.
Remember, the Glasgow Times stated last week that Celtic aren’t expecting to lose Edouard this January. They also said that Celtic were looking to recoup double the £9m they paid out for him when they signed him from PSG in 2018.
So there appear to be conflicting reports on how much Celtic could want. Keeping him in the summer has meant that his value has decreased. But that’s the dangerous game we played to try and secure 10-in-a-row.
As for the player himself, the Daily Star reports that he’s ideally looking for a top-six club in England. Again, his poor form this season could halt that. Edouard only has four Premiership goals to his name this season [Transfermarkt].

Celtic fans have come to accept that he’ll be away in the summer. There’s no chance the Hoops allow for him to enter the final six months of his deal and get nothing for him. That would be unthinkable given the kind of asset he is.
And there’s also still an argument to suggest that a move this month would be the best thing for all parties too. Celtic don’t have much else to fight for this season with the Premiership title-race all but over.
Come the summer, Edouard’s valuation will drop as he enters the final 12 months of his contract. It doesn’t matter how good he is on his day – that’s just the nature of player valuations. It’ll be interesting to see whether Celtic are happy to allow that to happen given the landscape of the current season.
Even so, it’s clear he’s rated down south by West Ham supporters in particular. Many are looking for their club to pounce before next week’s deadline day.
