English fans have been reacting to Kieran Tierney’s debut Arsenal performance last night.

Tierney managed 77 minutes of last night’s 5-0 routing of Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium. It was his first appearance with the Gunners since his record-breaking £25million move from Parkhead (BBC).

Celtic fans have always been highly-praising of their former star. However, when he was performing in Glasgow, it’s fair to say he wasn’t looked upon with the proper respect from many down south.

However, after a fine opening display with his new club, it appears opinion is already changing. Here’s a look at some of the reaction from down the road to Tierney’s performance.

We could’ve told you all of this a while ago Arsenal

Brilliant stuff for KT. It’s exactly the kind of performance he could’ve really done with for a debut. Considering the cut-throat environment of English football, particularly at a club the size of Arsenal, it was important he got off to a flyer.

However, isn’t it funny how one good game against a Championship side makes you some player down there? The praise Tierney is getting is off the charts on social media. Yet, if we bigged him up too much last season we would’ve been shot down by English fans.

Of course, they’ll all stick their fingers in their ears and go “lalala” if you try to tell them that. But finally they’re all waking up to the talent that Tierney is.

He is a proper modern-day full-back but with a real old school feel to him. He’ll be one of Arsenal’s biggest attacking threats, yet he’ll also be one of their most aggressive defenders when he tracks back. We know what Tierney is all about, and he looks set to show it to the rest of the world.

Tierney ended his tenure at Parkhead with 170 appearances. For many in our support, it’ll always be a case of what might’ve been regarding the idea of him being a one-club man. But who can blame him for wanting to further his career in the big lights of the EPL.

It speaks volumes of Neil Lennon that he’s managed to find a replacement in Boli Bolingoli that has helped Celtic keep up their domestic dominance so far. But as for Tierney, you get the feeling we’re on the verge of seeing something special here.
