Former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko has named one of his other clubs as the perfect blueprint for the Hoops to follow.
The Treble winner enjoyed a wonderful time in Glasgow but is now watching from afar as Celtic cling on in the title race and have a date with Dunfermline for the Scottish Cup final on 23 May.
Fans have called for change to help Celtic compete on all fronts, especially in Europe, and the defender thinks there is one side that has the ideal model for the Hoops to try and recreate.

How do Celtic fans get the board to listen to their concerns?

Erik Sviatchenko says Celtic should follow the Midtjylland model
As well as playing for Celtic, the former Danish international also played for FC Midtjylland.
Their moneyball model has seen them topple FC Copenhagen to become Denmark’s premier club, as well climb into the top 50 of UEFA’s club coefficient rankings after impressive performances in the Europa League and Champions League.
Celtic meanwhile haven’t won a European knockout game in 21 years and are beaten by teams with inferior budgets, but Sviatchenko has urged the Bhoys to look at his other former side as an inspiration.

He told the Daily Record: “Celtic should be there, going to quarter-finals. How is it possible that teams like Midtjylland from Denmark are doing that?
“Because they’re heavily invested in players, they’re paying big money and their scouting is amazing. It might be something that needs to be looked at.
“It’s not one person taking responsibility. It’s shared. Several people discuss everything.
“A team works better when you have different strengths. It’s a very flat structure. That’s the Midtjylland model.”
Celtic will only change with new faces at the helm
Dermot Desmond and the rest of the Celtic board have been in their positions of power for some time now, and when you have been there as long as you have, your vision is clouded.
There is nobody there to challenge the way that the Hoops operate, and it is so obvious that the model is extremely outdated.
They either need to bring in outsiders with fresh ideas, or admit their time is up and they need to pursue new investment elsewhere.
