Some of the current Celtic stars could be used to help knock Rangers out of the Europa League qualifiers.
Erik Sviatchenko has stated that he’s set to give both Ryan Christie and Kristoffer Ajer a call should Rangers beat Progres Niederkorn and set up a clash with his own side – FC Midtjylland.
It’s fair to say that Christie and Ajer have had their good and bad experiences against Steven Gerrard’s side. The duo also have major qualifiers of their own in the upcoming Champions League matches.

But that won’t stop Erik from getting on the phone and finding out all he can from his Celtic pals. Speaking in the Daily Record, Sviatchenko said the following:
“I will get some good connections from my old club. I’ll also speak to some of my good friends like Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie and they will tell my all I need to know about Rangers.
“I have also played at Ibrox so I would know what to expect and I would use those experiences to help my new team mates going into that potential game.”
Europa League qualifiers hopefully don’t await the Hoops
With a bit of luck, Rangers are the only club who have to face Midtjylland in Europe this season. Celtic will be determined to make the group stages of the Champions League in order to make up for last season’s calamity.

Sviatchenko, however, is quite right to touch on the minds of Ajer and Christie. He’s certainly picking two of the most intelligent in that regard. Regardless of the coefficient, both Ajer and Christie will likely be cheering on their former team-mate if he comes to Glasgow.
There appear to be strong relations between some of the current Hoops squad and Sviatchenko. It’s evident he was a popular man in the dressing room. And there’ll likely be a few more willing to give him some hints and tips about Glasgow’s second-best team should he require them.

In truth, Scotland could probably do with all three sides winning the rest of their qualifiers in Europe. Kilmarnock’s embarrassing 3-2 aggregate defeat to Connah’s Quay Nomads has stunned the country. We’re back to being a laughing stock, and Rangers going out to Midtjylland wouldn’t help that image either.
But so long as Celtic doing well, many will be happy for Sviatchenko and co to progress in that one. And it’s clear there are a few in the Celtic squad who would be willing to help him too.
