After Celtic collected three points against Motherwell most of the headlines have been taken up by things that have happened off the field of play.
With Brendan Rodgers still taking aim at the Scottish media narrative and the furore over his Jane Lewis comments, the media men have been having a field day over the past 72 hours.
However, when it came down to talking football in yesterday’s pre-match Dundee press conference, Rodgers specifically namechecked one Celtic player as being pivotal in helping turn the game around for the Hoops at Fir Park. And, surprisingly, it wasn’t Adam Idah.
The on-loan Norwich striker was brilliant in the second half and his double inspired a brilliant comeback, but he wasn’t mentioned yesterday by Rodgers.
Cameron Carter-Vickers hailed by Celtic boss
The US defender has had to deal with a number of injury issues this season and there is absolutely no doubt the Celtic manager has missed him.
Rodgers said [Celtic YouTube], “It was a very good win for us in the end. We didn’t start the game so well in terms of the first half in terms of we let too many balls in behind and on the sides and that’s not what our team is about.
“We don’t counter-press them we should have that ability to stop those attacks and we didn’t do that.
“But really it was about staying calm at halftime and then just connecting our game again and I thought second half, especially when Cameron [Carter-Vickers] come on, there was nothing that went in behind and then the two work really well together that allows you to sustain the attacks.

“So we scored some very good goals. And I think you see you see the unity in the team and how together they are. And yeah, it’s another victory for us. A very important win.”
Like Rodgers, I lost count of the number of times Motherwell managed to get in behind us at Fir Park. Especially in the first half.
However, the introduction of Carter-Vickers seemed to calm the back line and offer more confidence and stability as Rodgers’ side pressed the attack button in the final half hour.
The Celtic fans will be hoping that the 26-year-old is back in contention to start against Dundee as another three points will keep the pressure on Rangers at the top of the table.
