Established football agent posts Celtic Park photo

There was a bit of a stir caused on social media on Wednesday when a relatively well-known agent posted an image of a box at Celtic Park.

Elliott Fillingham took to Twitter to post the image of the New Balance box in the North Stand. The image was uploaded less than an hour before kick-off on Wednesday so it’s fair to assume that Fillingham was in attendance for the Nomme Kalju clash.

He describes himself as a ‘Registered Intermediary’ for Base Soccer Agency. They have a number of high-profile clients around the country including both Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.

Base also have Celtic loanee Daniel Arzani so there could be a very simple explanation to all this. But the Celtic fans don’t want to hear it.

Why was the agent at Celtic Park?

Hoops supporters are convinced that the agent was invited to Celtic Park as part of negotiations for a right-back called Silvan Widmer. The Swiss defender currently plays for Champions League outfit Basel and is contracted until 2022.

Neil Lennon is still looking for a right-back despite recently securing a deal for Hatem Abd Elhamed. The Hoops have just two players in the position at the club and Anthony Ralston clearly isn’t fancied.

So is Widmer a goer? Time will only tell, but it’s probably fair to lean on the pessimistic side. Fillingham has posted numerous photos of other British stadia over the past few months – including Ibrox last week.

Surely if he was a guest of the club he would have been in the main stand? And surely the majority of his clients are British based?

It’s a strange one worth keeping your eye on for now. But don’t be getting your hopes up too much.
