Celtic could face a last-minute deadline day bid for young striker, Johnny Kenny.
The 21-year-old striker has just returned from a year-long loan and was keen on making his mark at Celtic.
Kenny has made just one appearance for Celtic after returning from his loan spell in January and made his debut against Ross County.
However, it seems that he is being targeted again as Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers faces a headache should the young Irishman express a desire to get more first-team experience.
Shamrock Rovers want Celtic striker Johnny Kenny
The Irish Independent reports that Shamrock Rovers are hoping to make a last-minute deadline day bid to snatch Johnny Kenny back on loan until the end of the season.
However, the report says that sources at Celtic have made it clear that Kenny is going nowhere.
The Republic of Ireland’s transfer window doesn’t close until the 22nd of February so Rovers have plenty of time to try and persuade Celtic to let the young Irish striker continue his development at in the League of Ireland.
Young Kenny enjoyed a successful year-long loan at the Irish club and gained some valuable European experience as he participated in the Europa League group stages.
Johnny Kenny’s successful Shamrock Rovers spell as Celtic future comes into focus
Kenny made 42 appearances for Shamrock Rovers in his temporary spell at the Tallaght Stadium scoring 20 goals in total.
The youngster really made his name at the Irish club so with that in mind, here is what Kenny achieved at the League of Ireland club:
- Crowned League of Ireland Champions
- Scored 20 goals and created eight assists
- Scored seven goals in Europe, two in Champions Leauge qualifiers and five in Europa Conference League
- Played a grand total of 2542 minutes of first-team football
