Read MoreEven Steven Gerrard is an admirer of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou now
Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard says Celtic are “coached extremely well” and apparently can’t in good faith predict a victory for his former side on Sunday.
Gerrard obviously has an affinity for his former side and didn’t hide that fact in an Aston Villa press conference yesterday. He wants Rangers to win.
However, he failed to give a prediction and reckons it’s a ’50/50′ game.
The Villa manager also praised Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff for the way they’ve brought consistency to the Bhoys over the last nine months.
As quoted by Football Scotland, he said of the fixture: “Listen, I’ll watch the game on Sunday. It’s a mouth-watering game. Obviously Celtic got the better recently. I think it’s a real 50/50 game, two really good teams.
“Rangers are obviously in a good place having qualified and knocked Dortmund and Red Star out and Celtic have obviously been very consistent for some time now and are coached extremely well.
“I think you know quite clear who I want to win, that goes without saying. It will be very different sitting at home.”

Gerrard always came across a bit, shall we say, staunch during his time in Glasgow so it’s interesting to hear be a bit more magnanimous about Ange and the Bhoys in general.
Some might say he sensed a change in Scotland before jumping ship to Aston Villa earlier in the season. Maybe he didn’t want to find out about what Postecoglou is building up quite so close.
And let’s hope he finds out from home tomorrow.
