Joe Hart has had a long, long career at the elite level – so when he says he has never seen anyone as committed to their team as Celtic captain Callum McGregor, it’s worth taking note of.

The goalkeeper relishes the day-to-day work of being a footballer and said during the week that he was “buzzing” to be back in the building and working towards more Celtic success.

Hart also went into his first interactions with new manager Brendan Rodgers, suggesting that the future is bright for the Bhoys in this new era post-Ange Postecoglou.

And in the latest edition of The Celtic View, Hart made it clear he admires his captain greatly, stating: “I’ve never seen anyone as committed to a club as Callum, and it’s very special to be around. I love people like that, I love people who are not only committed and obviously a big fan of the club, but he’s a really good player – like he’s a top, top player.

“He drives every single standard of every training session and, of every match. He’s really valued here and he really values Celtic. So it’s a superb position for him to be in, and hats off to him, I think he’s a real credit to the club.”

The leadership group at Celtic on and off the pitch seems superb. We have Callum McGregor and Joe Hart, but also Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor. All have different personalities and different ways of leading the charge.

Hart is right, of course. McGregor is absolutely crucial even with that strong dressing room support. It was always going to be a tall order to replace Scott Brown’s presence but the midfielder has managed it well.

It’s having these characters pushing on that gives me as much hope not much will be changing at Celtic despite Ange Postecoglou’s exit. That winning determination very much remains in place. It could even be enhanced by Brendan Rodgers’ arrival as he taps into different methods of motivation.
