Celtic’s annual player of the year awards dinner was this evening, with the club announcing all the winners on social media.

It’s been a brilliant debut campaign for Ange Postecoglou who has brought his team to the brink of a Scottish Premiership title.

There’s plenty of praise to go around, so here’s who managed to pick up the awards on the night.

First up it was Stephen Welsh, who was awarded the Celtic Academy Player Of The Year after a strong season embedded in Postecoglou’s first-team squad.

The Academy graduate has made 23 appearances in total for the club this term, all but one of them being starts.

Although the partnership of Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers has kept him out of the team, he continues to impress the manager in training and is consistently selected for match squads.

The next award announced was the Celtic FC Women Player Of The Year, which was given to Jacynta Galabadaarachchi.

Jacynta has been an integral part of Fran Alonso’s team this year. Although things didn’t quite go to plan in the league, the women’s team managed to win the league cup and have progressed to the final of the Scottish Cup later this month.

A potential double is on the cards, which could be the springboard for title success next term.

The Top Goalscorer award was, of course, given to Kyogo Furuhashi. He has 17 at this stage of the season and while he can still be overtaken by Liel Abada (15) and Giorgos Giakoumakis (13), the Japanese forward still gets the trophy tonight.

Emotion then followed with Wim Jansen posthumously receiving a Special Recognition Award, having been the manager who famously ‘stopped the 10’ in 1998, winning one of the most important titles in the club’s entire history. His family were in attendance to receive the reward.

Kyogo then won his second award of the night with a Goal Of The Season triumph. His second goal in the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian got the nod, delivering Celtic’s first piece of silverware under Ange Postecoglou.

The Young Player of the Year Award deservedly went to Liel Abada. The Israeli has had a fantastic debut campaign at the Bhoys, scoring big goals and contributing in volume.

Still just 20, he has serious potential and everyone can’t wait to see where his Celtic career goes next.

Captain Callum McGregor was then announced as the Players’ Player of the Year Award winner, which is voted on by the squad at Celtic. Fully deserved too, I might add!

The midfielder has been sensational this season in galvanising a new squad, as well as performing so consistently on the pitch.

Last but not least, McGregor also won the Player of the Year Award, which is voted on by supporters. Incredible stuff, congratulations to our captain!

And, you may have figured out at this point I am writing this article out in real time as the minutes tick on tonight, but it was also announced Ange Postecoglou won the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year, voted on by players in Scotland.

Not bad for someone they called a nobody eh?!

In other news, TV presenter Rylan is loving his new Celtic portrait as Bhoys get ready to cinch it.
