Ewen Cameron names the ‘minimum’ number of Celtic players who would get into the Hearts team

Ewen Cameron has revealed how many Celtic players he would genuinely include in the current Hearts starting XI.

The Jambos have been worthy title challengers so far and are seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Despite this, Derek McInnes risked sounding bitter after Hearts’ 1-1 draw with Dundee United whereas Celtic hammered Kilmarnock 4-0.

There is obvious quality in both sides, even if the table currently shows a big difference, but Cameron thinks they are closer than others would believe.

Nine Celtic players would get into the current Hearts team

Cameron discussed the ongoing title race in the latest episode of the STV Radio Football Show podcast in which he opened up a conversation he had with a social media follower.

After being told that it would be ’embarrassing’ if Hearts couldn’t beat the ‘Celtic reserves’, the guest immediately dismissed that down.

He said: “That comment is embarrassing. It is embarrassing. That is pathetic because I’m going to tell you this right now.

“See that Celtic team that played yesterday against Kilmarnock? A minimum of nine of that starting XI get in the Hearts team. Minimum.”

Tony Bloom has a dream to topple Celtic and Rangers, but even he wouldn’t have foreseen a challenge this early.

Those outside of Celtic and Rangers are hoping that they can become the first side outside of Glasgow to win the league for 40 years, but not many are getting carried away.

Even though they are in the driving seat, Cameron thinks that they will end up finishing behind the Hoops.

“We are not what you think we are,” he added. “We don’t think we are going to win the league. Celtic will win this league. I’ve said it from day one. I’m going to continue to say it.”
