Ex-Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson was among those celebrating at Celtic Park this weekend.

Celtic’s win over Hearts was as dramatic as they come, and secured a league title which looked unlikely for much of the season.

Jenkinson, a close friend of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, is a free agent after leaving Bromley at the conclusion of their historic promotion season.

He made the trip to Glasgow to see the huge title-deciding game, celebrating with the midfielder after the game.

The duo are close friends from their time as teammates at Arsenal, when both were regulars under Arsene Wenger.

Since leaving the Emirates Stadium, he has spent time at Melbourne City and Newcastle Jets in Australia before moving to Bromley.

The return of Arne Engels as been detrimental to Oxlade-Chamberlain’s playing time; he was limited to just one substitute appearance after the split.

In his most recent league start, a win against St Mirren in which he scored the only goal, he could feel the difference of the Green Brigade.

He said after the game: “I could feel a difference, definitely, because I hadn’t experienced it before.

“The atmosphere has been great in previous games but it was nice to have those guys back and it’s good for all the fanbase.

“That was my first glimpse into the power those guys have in terms of the rest of the stadium and lifting the rest of the crowd.

“They can help us get over the line in tough games. The crowd will be massive for us and it was great to see them back in.

“We went over to that small section at the end and the noise they made and the passion they showed is going to be huge for us. Especially in games like that when it’s 1-0 and can be a bit cagey.

“That’s the time when you need the fans and they can make a massive difference for us.”
