Former Celtic academy prospect Calvin Miller could be set for a return to Parkhead to take on the Bhoys after he completed a move to Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton.

The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Celtic Park and was, at one stage, regarded as one of the top prospects coming through the academy.

After working his way through the ranks at Lennoxtown, Miller eventually made his way into the first team under Brendan Rodgers.

Overall, he made five appearances for the Hoops senior team, with his debut coming during the Invincible season in a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle.

A few more appearances followed in the 2017/18 campaign before the left-sided player spent some time out on loan in the Scottish lower leagues.

Spells with Ayr United and Dundee showcased Miller’s promise as a first-team performer in the Scottish league. But it, unfortunately, wasn’t enough to earn a regular slot at Celtic.

Injury issues followed after his release from Parkhead. However, he has since got back to playing south of the border with the likes of Harrogate Town, Notts County and Chesterfield.

After spending over a year with the National League side, Miller has made his return to Scottish Football after a three-year absence, joining Greenock Morton on a deal until the end of the season.

The Scottish Championship side are currently sitting 4th place in the second tier and are eyeing up a surprise promotion spot to the top flight.

Brief Celtic Park return on the horizon for Calvin Miller.

His days of playing at Celtic Park may have come to an end in 2019. However, the Scotland under-21 international has the potential opportunity to make a brief return to Paradise later this month.

Miller’s new side will be going up against Ange Postecoglou’s team in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup in the East End of Glasgow on the 21st of January.

So, the ex-academy prospect will be going up against a handful of his old Hoops teammates in a brief return to Celtic Park in cup action.

He will also be joined by another former Hoops man, Efe Ambrose, who is currently playing at the heart of Dougie Imrie’s Cappielow backline.

I am sure it will be a moment the lifelong Celtic supporter is looking forward to, having made his debut at the same ground in 2016.

But it will also be good to see the former Celtic man back in Scotland, where his career kick-started, and hopefully, he is able to help Morton in their push for promotion this season.
