In Macclesfield on Saturday, we saw a historic upset in the FA Cup which epitomised what the tournament is about.
But on the same day in Manchester, former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell experienced the exact opposite end of that spectrum.
Caldwell has previously managed Wigan and Partick Thistle’s under-21s, as well as being Celtic assistant Shaun Maloney’s number-two at Hibs.
He now manages Exeter City in League One, and took them for a glamour tie against Man City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s side showed absolutely no mercy on the day, obliterating the Devon club 10-1.

Ex-Celtic man Gary Caldwell on Pep Guardiola exchange
Not one, but two ex-SPFL players scored own goals for Exeter in the first-half.
The score was just 6-0 with 20 minutes to go, but City weren’t interested in calming things down in the closing stages, adding their tenth through Rico Lewis in injury time.

It’s every manager’s worst nightmare, but in fairness to Caldwell, he showed his sense of humour with Guardiola after the game.
He told BBC Radio Devon: “I gave [Pep] a nice bottle of Scottish whisky.
“He said he doesn’t drink whisky… I said, ‘you might if you start losing 10-1!’
“And yeah, he seen the joke. But he had lovely red wine, and we had a beer. It was brilliant to chat to him and pick the brains of one of the best coaches of all time.”
Asked if he got a gift in return, Caldwell said: “We got a thumping in return…
“And I will accept that. I said thank you for putting the best team out, because we didn’t get the half-Man City experience, we got the full experience.
“We got the full team, and we now know what the very best do, and what elite football looks like.
“I think that can be a huge learning experience for us, and it can only make us better.”
Caldwell was tipped for the Celtic job by Ally McCoist in November, prior to the hiring of Wilfried Nancy… he certainly wouldn’t be able to have a joke about losing 10-1 in Glasgow.

Other managers in England with Celtic links
Brian Barry-Murphy was another left-field candidate for Celtic in November. The Irishman has links to the City Group and has impressed taking charge of Cardiff – he also made the final round of interviews for the Strasbourg job.
Ex-Hoops assistant Chris Davies is the reigning holder of League One, winning it with Tomoki Iwata at Birmingham. Of course, he has since added Celtic favourites Patrick Roberts and Kyogo Furuhashi to his squad.
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna was one of the favourites for the job, but looks unlikely to leave the Tractor Boys any time soon, given his lucrative long-term contract at Portman Road.
Martin O’Neill is the current favourite to land the permanent job in the summer, with Roberto Martinez also in the running.
